Report Repair
Determination of your financial status depends a lot on the credit
report and the history that is contained therein. Banks, financial
institutions and any company that you have a credit relationship
established with are surveyed to determine your payment history.
From time to time reporting errors may be made in your credit report
that can negatively impact your credit report and lower your scores.
You will want to address these immediately, if you in fact believe
there is a factual error contained in your credit report.
You can proceed by obtaining copies of your credit report; review
the credit reports as it contains many errors such as omissions,
misleading information etc. - you can request the corrections by
means of a formal dispute via correspondence to the institution
or company that has given you a bad report for late or non payment.
There are also a broad number of companies that you can hire who will
act on your behalf to clear up errors in your credit report. This
can be advantageous for you in some cases, as they can save you
considerable time and understand what can and cannot be done in
terms of advocating a change in your credit report on your behalf.
However, there is no better method to repair your credit score then
paying your bills on time and keeping accurate records of all of
your financial transactions for a minimum of 3-5 years. You may
discover that an error has been reported on your credit report in
some cases many years after a particular financial transaction has
occurred.
